TEKS Alignment · Daily Writing a Day

TEKS Alignment

Daily Writing a Day is aligned to the writing and oral-language strands of the Texas English Language Arts and Reading TEKS (19 TAC Chapter 110, Subchapters A and B), adopted in 2017.

Codes are aligned to, not reproduced from, the official standards. K–5 share one strand numbering and 6–8 shift down by one, but sub-letters can vary slightly by grade. Confirm against your grade's chapter (§110.2–§110.7 for K–5, §110.22–§110.24 for 6–8) before adopting.

Where the strands show up

In K–5, the writing process is strand (11), genres are (12), and inquiry and research is (13). In 6–8, the same strands are (10), (11), and (12). Oral language is strand (1) in every grade.
