Texas TEKS
Learning Greek and Latin word parts is not itself a science TEKS. These activities support students' access to TEKS-aligned science content by making unfamiliar science vocabulary decodable, and by requiring evidence-based explanation once a term has been decoded.
Elementary and middle school materials are organized around the four science strand families:
- Matter and Energy
- Force, Motion, and Energy
- Earth and Space
- Organisms and Environments
Standards are aligned to, not reproduced from, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Science. Confirm against your district curriculum before adoption.
NGSS
Morphology is not an NGSS Performance Expectation. The defensible connection is to the language and reasoning demands of science learning: obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information; constructing explanations; engaging in argument from evidence; and the crosscutting concepts of patterns, structure and function, systems, cause and effect, and energy and matter.

Student Success Tool
Beginning in 2027–2028, the Student Success Tool replaces STAAR in Texas with beginning-, middle-, and end-of-year assessments. The draft elementary science blueprints organize questions around the four strands above and call for stimulus-based clusters — which is why Decode the Stimulus is the flagship activity family here.
