K-12 KPI Guide

Recommended starting point: keep your first dashboard to 8–15 KPIs. Separate outcome indicators, such as student achievement or device uptime, from activity indicators, such as tickets closed or PD sessions offered.

Education KPIs

  • Attendance rate
  • Chronic absenteeism
  • Course pass rate
  • Assessment growth
  • Graduation / promotion progress
  • Intervention completion
  • Student belonging / survey pulse

Technology KPIs

  • Device readiness
  • Ticket response time
  • Network uptime
  • Cybersecurity training completion
  • Phishing simulation pass rate
  • LMS / platform adoption
  • Classroom display or audio readiness

Leadership Prompts

  • Which two KPIs need action this month?
  • Which metric improved the most?
  • Which KPI lacks a clear owner?
  • Which target should be reset because the baseline changed?
  • What evidence explains the trend?

Status Rules

  • On Track: 95%+ of target progress.
  • Watch: 80–94% of target progress.
  • Critical: below 80% of target progress.
  • For “lower is better” metrics, such as ticket resolution time, status is reversed.
